I never really fixated on thread count. I must admit I'm a bedroom sheet snob and prefer thread counts a bit beyond 200. However in thinking about 1000 thread count sheets I realized they must be like cardboard.
And here is how an ancient fiber called Ramie is made in Korea. Take note of the differences.
What amazes me is that part of the process is pulling the fiber through your teeth and it's painful. What about this doesn't even make sense. Would any American woman do this? I think a few would - but an
entire culture? Not!
Recently I read an article about a shawl that was woven from spider silk. If you don't believe me - read about it here.

This is totally amazing - that anyone would do this - but also if you watch the video you will learn just how strong spider thread really is.
Okay - I digressed - and now we get back to 500 count toilet paper. Here's the deal - I like two ply. I have a septic tank so I'm supposed to use Marine quality paper that is only one ply. I don't wish to discuss why two ply is more to my liking - just suffice that it is.
Do we need 500 threat count? No - of course not. It was just that the idea was tantalizing and a good title for a blog about over the top. I don't know if I have made my point - I think you need to read between the lines.
