Today when I drove up the road to my house I passed by a lovely view of dancing leaves in the street. The wind was just right and it turned the leaves upward and then whisked them downward in a joyful dance of fall. It reminded me of when my son was young and we had parked the car in front of our house. As he got out of the car he saw a large group of leaves circling around in the street. The leaves finally scooted under the car and with wide eyes he said, "Mom- the leaves are dancing!"
Those are the moments you can't put in a photo album. In fact unless you have your cell phone always ready to shoot a picture - even today moments like that are lost. As I drove up the road I kept thinking, "what if I stop - and try and capture the moment - will they wait for me?" I knew they wouldn't. I knew the best I could do is cherish the moment and keep the image and the memory.
That image opened up more and more images of fall. Things probably only I remember and could never explain. Sometimes you just have to be there.
