The full moon reminds me of many things. I used to think the moon was made out of pie dough. It was rolled out ready for the filling and some naughty child raced across the dough and left foot prints. THAT naughty child would have to go to be without dessert for sure.
Others think there is a face in the moon. I have to admit there are times when even I see a face - and it appears to be winking at me.
Some think the moon has mystical powers.
Lovers sing to the moon. When I was a child I sang:
I see the moon and the moon sees me
and the moon sees somebody I’d like to see
So God bless the moon and God bless me
and God bless the somebody I’d like to see.
Sometimes I think of people around on the other side of the world who see the same moon we do – just at a different time. I think of the moon as a connector of sorts.
Recently I thought of the day before the new moon. I doubt that many people get excited about the day before the new moon appears – but if you were the moon and had to do the gravitational pull thing 24/7 – not to mention the responsibility of affecting tides on this planet 24/7 – not to mention well - if you were the new moon you would want more attention even the day before you appeared. Otherwise the moon might get saucey and not appear at all. It might wane but not wax. (And you know what not waxing means - or maybe you don't know. Personally it makes my eyes water to think about it.)
