UNCONSCIOUS AND HIDDEN CHAUVINISM
Last night I visited a local mail center. We are currently sorting "things" in our factory and discovered three huge cartons containing padded envelopes. We used these envelopes in the "olden days" to mail collateral materials about us as follow up after trade shows. Why we now still have three huge cartons full of them I have no clue. But we do. I thought selling them would be a good idea.
I spoke to the owner and he wasn't too keen on the idea because he prefers bubble wrap padded envelopes as they are more secure in his opinion. I can't really argue with that - but I told him I'd give him a good price.
He said, "Well, talk it over with your husband and let me know."
Yeah - right. Huh! What! Is he kidding? I don't even have on a wedding ring.
You just never know when you will encounter this kind of latent chauvinism. I have to say I was totally taken aback.
